The Mill

At the Prairie Ronde Artist Residency, artists are invited to make site-specific work in an historic papermill site that is currently under reconstruction. The papermill is now being restored through the project with The Mill in Vicksburg, Michigan.

In this 6-week residency, I explore the making of tunnel books within the space utilizing Vietnamese folk-lore motifs as large paper cut outs from handmade paper. Papers were made and constructed during the residency from paper mulberry, local milkweed, and dyed using native plants in the Michigan wetlands.
